Moments of beauty from my backyard

November 28, 2012

I’ve had this hibiscus shrub in a pot for over a year. I feel terrible for not planting it, but I have some sort of connection with this shrub/bush. I can’t bring myself to plant it in the ground because I don’t have the heart to uproot it when we move.

Given the fact that we’re renters, I want it to be as mobile as possible. I’m going to bring this plant with me wherever I go until we decide to plant roots of our own and buy a house. Until then, I watch it go through cycles of struggle vs. blossom as it tries to break out of it’s pot.

Although it’s cold outside and this is a tropical plant, I saw this one, amazing bloom today and grabbed my camera. She’s a beauty and whenever I see her blooming, it brings me so much joy!

Really? Wow! Who knew? I guess I won’t plant it now! LOL. Hopefully it’s not harmful to the dogs?

Yeah my boxers always ate our hibiscus plants for some reason. They were completely fine after eating them.
