It’s #TipsyTuesday, and I would like to introduce you guys to a cocktail I know as the “Lady Mary.” It’s a champagne/gin mix and ooooooh so delicious. If you’re a Downton Abbey fan (we’re psycho fans in this house) then you’ll recognize the name. We got introduced to it in 2019 at the movie premiere. The theater bar made a drink to commemorate the movie, and thankfully I got the recipe from the bartender before I left. It’s truly one of my favorite cocktails. The kicker is that the gin is infused with rosemary, so if you don’t already have that laying around your house, you have to prepare for this drink three days in advance. All you do is pop some of your favorite gin into an air proof bottle along with 3-4 springs of rosemary and let it infuse for 72 hours (or less if you want a more subtle rosemary flavor.) Then after that it’s just a matter of mixing it with Champagne, lemon juice and simple syrup. I’ll post the recipe below. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do! Cheers!
– 3/4 cup rosemary infused gin (We just happened to have the Highclere Castle gin in the house which we thought was appropriate for this cocktail.)
– 1/8 cup simple syrup
– 1 tbs fresh lemon juice
– Brut Champagne (or any Brut sparkling wine.)
Pour the gin, simple syrup and lemon juice into a cocktail shaker and shake for 30 seconds until nice and cold. Then divide the mix into two classes over ice. Fill the rest of your glass with the Brut Champagne. Garnish with a spring of rosemary. Viola! Cheers!
