Chex Mix Bars and Food styling | Food Photographer

December 15, 2011

Today’s subject was a Chex Mix bar. What started with me shooting the bar as a whole ended up with me cutting it into fourths. “But why” might you ask? For the lack of better words, the bar as a whole looked like a caramelized poo log. That’s right – I just went straight ghetto and said “poo log” on you.

I can’t emphasize the importance of food styling and the perception of the viewer. Even though these little bars are some of the tastiest things on the market, it had to be modified for staging in order to keep it appetizing.

Here is the before picture with the bar fully intact. Now tell me this doesn’t look like something you would rather NOT be eating…

Now here is the final result shot at f-9 @ ISO 1250 in my kitchen right before I wolfed them down. 🙂
